All Miller No Filler

The first Roundhouse poker night of 2008 went off with a bang!

First out was PowerPace, who was cruising along nicely until somehow he managed to misread a Queen in the hole as a King. Consequently when two kings came down in the widow, Pace commited about 3/4 of his stack to the pot and was called by Ryan with two pair. Dan triumphantly turned his cards over only to release his gaff. He never quite recovered.

After an early nightmare Tom put in a sterling performance with his 2nd £10 and, with a series of aggressive all-in bets, managed to build up a comfortable buffer. Unfortunately a series of close calls went against him and soon Tom's big bets began turning into big losses. By 10pm he was on a wing and a prayer; sadly neither helped.

As usual after a couple of hours Phil had amassed a huge stack of chips, however a run of stunning hands from Ryan saw the piles dwindle rapidly. After deciding to call it a night and cashing out his £25 Phil couldn't resist having another quick £5 worth. Sadly, these chips were quickly overcome by the gravitational pull of Ryan's chip mountain so that was it for Mr Brown.

After winning two early hands I had around £25 in chips. Sadly this money petered away over the next couple of hours and at one point I was down to £3.50 in chips. However after going all-in and winning against both Phil and Ryan things started going a little more my way.

When Phil finally bowed out at around 11pm I had about £25 in front of me and Ryan had about £40. After about 30mins of heads up I had managed to increase my stack to £35. However a risking £5 bluff on the turn of the final hand was called quickly by Ryan and his pair of 7s triumphed. This left the final standings as follows:

Mike
Ryan
Phil
Dan
Tom

+£20
+£15
-£5
-£10
-£20
